The other day i was talking on air and someone was listening to my show on the net. So i had a little competition going on and this person won, a day with me as a co- host. So the day arrives and this 16 year old girl shows up claiming to be that person, she validated everything with her i.d, passport, mean while i had a picture of this grown up women. I found this rather hysterical, which brings me to my point, do we lie more on the internet. I mean when your sitting behind your laptop at home or on your desktop at work and your sending an e-mail whether it be work related or personal, what is easier to lie or to tell the truth. Research tells us that people lied 50% more when writing business related e-mails, and another study shows that people r more likely to lie to co-workers than strangers. Now that one got me a bit stirred up, imagine that someone you have worked with for 15 years would be more likely to lie to you than someone they have not even met. Is this research accurate? A thought then popped into my head, that yes this could be possible, you have got to think this through. We as a human race want approval and we know how our colleagues think so we know they will tell us something we want to hear but strangers will tell you the truth because we don't know them.Now i want you to tell me from your own experiences what you think is true, do you think we are prone to lying more when we are sending e-mails or are these researchers going crazy and have nothing better to do........ Truth be told i do lie when i am on the internet especially when its to people in know. its very easy to lie to these people because they tend to trust you they will never doubt your statements. However to those i don't know i never do throw my identity on the screen so easily who knows that person might be a murderer.
ReplyDeletefrankly speaking we all tend to lie.mostly to strangers,by now i guess three quarters of people worlwide know that YOU MUST NOT REVEAL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION to complete strangers.one thuing will lead to another and you will regret the day yuo were born!.
